Artificial Intelligence, as it standeth nowadays, is neither enchantment nor a true mirror of man’s own mind, but rather a mathematical semblance of correlations, wholly void of intentionality. Neural webs, having perused terrabytes of empirical observations, learn to approximate the distributions of features, yet fail to grasp causation. Their pretended “reason” is but a gradient descent through multidimensional spaces of error, not genuine reflection. Thus we find ourselves possessed of operational oracles, which answer more precisely than they comprehend, and do hallucinate all the more convincingly, the more intricate the query.
